San Benedetto in Alpe, February 17, 2011.
As a citizen of San Benedetto in Alpe, with 20 years experience in computers, internet, networks, websites, marketing and business solutions, in the United States, I want to use any skills I have to create the most modern and effective infrastructure for our village, for our businesses to flourish and sustain us in these difficult times.
The one thing that is needed for this to happen is fast internet with no usage limits and upload speeds of more than 512 Kbps.
After two and a half years of research and work, the Portico & San Benedetto City Hall, on February 16, 2011, at 20:30, presented our community with a meeting to announce the results of their efforts. In this meeting, the Mayor, Mr. Mirko Betti introduced to our community a satellite service salesman who gave us his sales pitch, selling us a dish that does not work in low winter temperatures or snow, with a service of 4 Giga per month, which most people would go through in one week or less. This was disappointing to say the least. A betrayal of the people of San Benedetto in Alpe.
When the salesman was put in a difficult position he responded that "we will not be able to download movies or 25 pictures of our girlfriends but we will be able to send 10.000 emails". Mr. salesman, I can send 10.000 emails now with 56 K modem and Telecom. No one needs fast internet for email. It is shameful that we were treated as if we were children who knew nothing.
The Valley of Acquacheta needs fast internet in order to survive financially into the future. The businesses and the people need viable solutions, and it is our hope that we will not have to wait another two and a half years to hear another salesman selling us another solution that does not work.
We need project managers that can get results, and we need them now.
